We need your help for our friend Rachel and her family—her awesome husband Jerry and their incredible twins, Rory and Medli. The last month has been one of the worst yet, and we're reaching out because this family needs all the love and support they can get.

It all started on October 30th when Rachel landed in the hospital, dealing with severe dehydration and dialysis complications from her kidney disease. She finally got out on November 11th but ended up in the emergency room a week later. This time, with a nasty strep pneumonia infection that turned septic. Rachel ended up spending a week in the cardiac ICU.

The doctors were optimistic that the pneumonia was improving, but things ended up getting worse - Rachel had a massive infection around her left lung, which was causing it to collapse. On December 1st she had to undergo surgery to remove as much of the infection as possible, and they placed two drain tubes to continue to remove infected fluid. Those finally came out the morning of December 9th.

She finally got discharged the afternoon of the 9th, and even though she's finally home, Rachel is still looking at a long road to recovery. Aside from healing from the infection and surgery, she will likely need physical therapy since she has been bedridden for over a month, among other supports.

Of course, since Rachel has been in the hospital all this time, Jerry has been on full-time duty taking care of Medli and Rory. They've been out of school with their own various illnesses, and when they were better, he still needed to be there when they got home from school. 

As a result, this wonderful family needs financial support to get through the next few months. Their landlord is not showing any flexibility with their rent, and they need to come up with the funds so they can, at the very least, not have to worry about housing on top of everything else. 

They've missed Thanksgiving and the twins' and Rachel's birthdays, and it's looking like Christmas will be joining that list. Jerry will return to work as soon as Rachel is well enough, but the timing is unknown, and it may very well impact their ability to pay January's rent.

While our primary goal is to cover their rent for December and January and stock their fridge, anything extra will go towards ensuring this family has the best possible holiday, even in the middle of all this chaos.
