Help the Hatfield Family
Dear Friends, Family, and our Humboldt Community,
We are reaching out to you today with heavy hearts but hopeful spirits on behalf of the Hatfield family.
My father, Richard Hatfield, has been facing a severe medical crisis and has been hospitalized for over a month. As his condition required highly specialized care, he was transferred to UCSF Medical Center, where he has been fighting hard for the last three weeks. Because of the complexity of his medical needs, doctors expect Richard will need to remain at UCSF for at least several more weeks, if not longer.
While Richard focuses entirely on healing, his wife, Debi Hatfield, and their family have been staying by his side. Being away from home for over a month has taken an immense emotional and financial toll.
While insurance may cover a portion of the hospital stay, it does not cover the staggering everyday costs required to keep a family together during a medical crisis.
How Your Donations Will Help:
Every dollar raised will go directly to Debi and the family to relieve the sudden, overwhelming financial pressure so they can focus entirely on Richard. Your support will help cover:
- Medical Expenses: Mounting out-of-pocket costs, deductibles, and medication.
- Housing near UCSF: The high cost of temporary lodging in San Francisco so Debi can remain close to Richard's bedside.
- Travel & Transportation: Fuel, bridge tolls, parking fees, Uber, and transit costs back and forth to the hospital.
- Daily Living Costs: Meals and household bills that continue to pile up while they are away from home.
No donation is too small. If you are unable to donate financially, you can still support the Hatfields tremendously by sharing this link with your own network, on social media, or via text.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, your prayers, and your generosity during the most difficult chapter of Richard and Debi’s lives.
With love and gratitude,
Pennie Lee and The Hatfield Family & Friends
