Help the Homeless
Hi, I'm Heather Cape, a former social worker, and mid March my daughter and I started volunteering at the Haven in Lafayette,GA. Through the Haven, I met Tracy, whom I originally started this free funder for. We were able to meet his needs emergency needs for many things such as paying for an ID, a phone, shelter, and food when the Haven is closed. When he is ready to get his License again, we will pay his reinstatement fee using these funds. He is now set up with services through LMCS and the Community support team. We will continue to be there and help TJ in any way we can.
As I have been helping TJ, I have met several people and families who need support to get out of homelessness. They are caught between a rock and a hard place. I tell them about the Haven and about the services in the community, but even with these services and churches, sometimes there are immediate needs. Right now, James, who I met a week ago, is suppose to start his job in a week or so, but for the time being and till he gets paid, he doesn't have money for food, shelter, etc He needs a phone ASAP for obvious reasons. He has a car and I have given him a little gas money so far and bought him some needed things at the store. He is going to DFCS for food stamps. I'm encouraging him to go to LMCS to get into the same program as Tracy. I will help as I can.
Chrissy is a homeless young lady. She is so sweet and never had the support she needed to thrive. She needs to get her ID and that is $32 so she can go to LMCS and apply for food stamps. She also needs a working phone to receive calls for these things and employment
There are several more people I have met that could use a hand up, and as long as God puts them in my path, I will do all I can to help them. Your donation with help me to be the hands and feet of Christ to meet some immediate needs and those that come up during the transition out of homelessness.
Please look under the updates tabs where I will post how I'm using these funds.
