Help Us Bridge the Gap
Our family has faced one unexpected challenge after another over the past few years, and we are once again reaching out for temporary assistance as we work to rebuild our lives. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who takes the time to read our story, share our fundraiser, or offer support in any way.
In 2023, our family was involved in a serious car accident that left my husband with a significant back injury. Despite living with chronic pain, he continued working and did everything he could to provide for our family. Unfortunately, his condition continued to worsen, and in September 2025 he underwent major back surgery. Since then, he has had to be extremely careful about the type of work he can do because physically demanding jobs could cause further injury. During his recovery, I became our primary source of income and worked as much as I could to support our family.
The financial strain became overwhelming and forced us to relocate several times. For a few months, we lived in a hotel because we couldn't afford permanent housing. After that, we moved into a camper, but it was located too far from our children's schools and my summer job, making everyday life even more difficult. We continued searching until we found the home we are currently renting. It has given our children the stability they deserve and allows us to be closer to work and school, but starting over came at a tremendous cost.
We used nearly all of our savings to move into our new home by paying our first month's rent, the security deposit, and our first electric bill. Because of everything we have gone through, we had to leave behind most of our belongings during our moves. Right now, our home is mostly empty. We do not have a dining table, chairs, a couch, or beds for ourselves. My husband's mother generously provided beds for two of our children, but my husband and I currently sleep on the floor because we have not yet been able to afford a bed.
Since April 11, 2026, I have been working for a friend's cleaning company, but the work has been inconsistent and the hours vary from week to week. Wanting something more stable, I accepted a position at LongHorn Steakhouse on July 20, 2026, where I earn $10.98 per hour. That same day, my husband also started a new job that better accommodates his physical limitations and doesn't place excessive strain on his back. He earns $16.25 per hour.
Although we are incredibly thankful to both be working again, both of our jobs hold back one week's pay. This means our first paychecks will not arrive in time, and even then they most likely won't be enough to cover our immediate expenses. Our monthly rent is $1,750, and our current electric bill is $324, which includes a required deposit and current charges.
We are not asking for help because we don't want to work. We are asking because we are doing everything we can to rebuild our lives after years of setbacks, and we simply need a little help getting through this transition. Our goal is to become financially stable again and provide a secure, comfortable home for our children.
Our immediate need is $2,074 to cover our rent and electric bill while we wait for our income to become consistent. Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads and the lights on. If you are unable to donate, sharing our fundraiser with your friends, family, or on social media would mean the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for taking the time to read our story. Your kindness, generosity, prayers, and support give our family hope during one of the most difficult seasons of our lives. We are deeply grateful for every donation, every share, and every person who helps us move one step closer to stability.
