Help us fight cancer!

On December 5th, 2019 my mom, Linda Smith, was diagnosed with Stage 3 Uterine Cancer which has spread quickly and aggressively throughout her body.

We have been in Nashville at Vanderbilt Hospital since December 2nd and I have stayed in hotels close to the hospital during this time so I could be with her. We were able to go home after Christmas for a few days, but she became very sick again and we are now back at Vanderbilt.

She recieved radiation therapy in December which was unsuccessful, so they began chemo last week while inpatient. We are hoping for a miracle and that the chemo will work, despite what the Drs are telling us. WE WILL FIGHT THIS!

It is our hope that she will be able to return to the comfort of our home soon. We are wanting to avoid assisted living facilities, and for her to remain happy and positive. We feel that being at home will help her keep that positive outlook.

Since we do not have a large family here (it is her, myself, and my children Eden & Adrien), I am her sole caregiver and advocate. We are both unable to work and I am currently on an unpaid FMLA leave.

Ms. Linda has been the director of Emmanuel Preschool (a Ministry of First Baptist Church) in Bowling Green for 26 years. She has devoted herself to the center, and has loved and cared for so many children and families in that time. This has been her passion and purpose in life, as helping others has always brought her joy. Now we are coming to you, to ask that our community and friends band together for "Nana" and help us in any way they can.

We have hospital bills already coming in and now a hefty deductible to meet since it's the beginning of the year, our regular utilities, groceries, travel & lodging expenses, she will have Dr co-pays and RX co-pays, making sure my children's needs are met, we will need a ramp built for a wheelchair, and she requires a special hospital bed that her insurance will not cover, along with other various costs that will come up along the way. All of this is overwhelming, especially with no income at this time.

Friends, I am humbling myself and asking for help. Please consider sharing this and donating, if possible. If you are unable to donate, we ask for your continued prayers and support.

Thank you to everyone for being there for us and for helping.

We are fighting this as long as we can and praying for miracles!
