Help with a new lease on life.
Hello,
My name is David S. I am an intelligent, caring, man who has had a bumpy road. I started getting in trouble at an early age, mostly due to drug use. I was adopted by my great aunt, who was unable to have children of her own. She did her best to give me every opportunity within her power, and I had the potential to become anything I wanted. However, the path I chose led to drugs and crime to support my habit, and ultimately prison. During my time in prison I had many epiphanies, including the fact that I had not been acting like the man I knew myself to be. I completed a 14 month in-patient drug treatment program at the Orlando Bridge, and because of the drive I have to lead a different lifestyle, I excelled. While in prison, the only person who ever believed in me as much as I do, my adopted mother, died, due to many heath issues. My cousin took advantage of my situation, and vulnerability, and stole some of my inheritance, which was not substantial, including my mother's most prized possessions, her jewelry, which I would buy her with her money on birthdays and holidays. Among other things.
Now that I am getting out, I am finding that the things I need, lime an apartment, clothes, furniture, cookware, toiletries, and money to pay bills, will be beyond my reach. Without help, I will be in an in between place, and at risk of going back to the man that I was ashamed to be for so many years.
I am starting this crowd funding campaign to ask for help. I am looking for people to be live in the man I know I am at heart. My goal is to be able to afford a reasonable place to live, and fill that apartment with the necceties of life. I hope to then be able to pay that help forward and help others who are in the same boat then, as I am now. Convicted felons are still human beings. We are your brothers and sisters, uncles and aunts, fathers and mothers, your friends and your family.
Please, help me to be the proof that people can change and that all it takes is the village to believe and offer even the meagerest of support.
Thanks in advance for your belief in me.
