Help W/Living Expenses
My name is Whitney Weiler. I am a married mother with two beautiful little girls.
I recently had an emergency hysterectomy on Aug 7. They took everything but my ovaries those I still have. They told me it would be a 2 hour surgery (day surgery)
5 1/2 hours later I’m admitted over night for observation because during surgery the surgeon cut off my utterer. If you don’t know it’s the tube connected to my left kidney and bladder. Now instead of 5 incisions I needed 6 so that urology could go in and sew it back on and place a stent and a catheter to prevent my bladder from filling up and messing with the healing process. They said I would keep the stent for 6 weeks and the catheter for 2 weeks.
Fast forward through 2 weeks of pain and suffering and not hardly getting out of bed. Aug 20 they take the catheter out. Aug 21st I am in so much pain, I have the chills and a fever of 103. I go back to the hospital that did my surgery. They did a CT scan and I’m admitted into ICU due to the stent being infected and I’m now in septic shock. I had to be put on oxygen and my blood pressure monitored every 10 minutes because the levels wouldn’t go up. They doped me with so much pain meds I was throwing up. I got out of the hospital this time on Aug 25.
Oh did I mention they put another catheter in for another 2 weeks?
I was supposed to get the catheter out on Sept 11, stent comes out Sept 15. Labor Day I had to go to the ER and I demanded they remove the catheter 4 days early because it was blocked and I was urinating around the catheter and uncontrollably peeing everywhere.
Mind you I haven’t gotten paid for this medical leave because I wasn’t at my job long enough yet. And had this not happened I would have been back to work by now. Instead of me going back to work Sep 18 like I was supposed to now I don’t go back until Oct 3 which is a Saturday. So Oct 5 Monday is when I’ll go back.
This is not a complication that can happen during a hysterectomy as the doctor called it, it was an unfortunate accident. Not to mention they didn’t remove the stent that was contaminated and infected they said they didn’t want to risk the healing process of the utterer so I’m now on antibiotics for lord knows how long.
We are struggling financially, behind on rent, electric, UGI. I hate asking for help. My husband has tried to sell his truck to cover a majority of the expenses and unfortunately the last 3 people interested flaked. I’m asking for help for my family and I. Anything helps.
I appreciate everyone taking the time to read my story.
