We adopted our cat Kairi from a shelter when she was a kitten. The shelter rescued her from a sweet homeless lady trying to save the starving kitten. When the shelter saw that she was terribly sick they offered the lady blankets and food to save the kitten's life. We met Kairi at the shelter and instantly fell in love with her. She filled a void in our lives when we brought her home. What was diagnosed as a head cold quickly was discovered to be Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FVR); which is an upper respiratory virus that also affects the eyes. We couldn't give up our fur baby even though she would be sick all her life so we got her the medicine she needed and took it day by day. Unfortunately the virus has now laid claim to one of her eyes. To save Kairi's other eye, prolong her life, and to keep her from being in pain it will need to be removed.
