Hit by Uninsured Driver
Update: It is now the end of April and I am still dealing with the insurance claim. I am also still staying in an Airbnb, because of the negative associations with the RV and I cannot get a new home for us to settle in until this has been completed. This is completely out of pocket because I have ran out of emergency expense coverage through my insurance. In addition, because Florida has no UMPD coverage, I have no coverage for diminished value, and will be forced to sell the motorhome at a significant loss to me. I am a person of integrity, so I would not be able to complete a sale while hiding any facts about the repairs done. Thanks for your support. =)

I am a full-time RVer and on January 16, 2021 I was driving in the right lane on I-95, not doing anything wrong, when I was hit in the rear end by a motorcyclist speeding excessively. It was a tragic accident as she did not end up surviving in the end. No one has been able to find any insurance in her name, so despite being fully insured myself, because Florida's uninsured motorist coverage (I had recently relocated to Florida) does not include property damage, I am needing to pay my full collision deductible of $750. I had always lived in states with UMPD in the past, so I selected my collision deductible the same way I always have, based on my perceived risk of causing an accident, as opposed to my risk of being in any sort of an accident, whether at-fault or not. After being out of work because of COVID for six months last year, never getting back to my full pre-COVID income level because of lingering impacts from the pandemic, and knowing this happening was not my fault, this is a tough loss to take.
I don't think anyone should have to suffer because someone else chose to drive without insurance, even people reading this right now. No one. I don't like asking for help, but I'm hoping that if enough people can just donate $10 or $20, that I can get through this with knowing that at least no one financially suffered, but simply banded together and chipped in a little bit to make a difference all together. =(
FreeFunder donates from Facebook shares as well, so whether you can or wish to donate or not, please click the share button, as that can help me as well!
