Home Propane Explosion

My name is Dawn Solomon, and I'm reaching out to you today with a heavy heart. On 7/6/25, a devastating fire broke out in my home due to a propane gas explosion. While I am incredibly grateful that I and my loved ones are safe, the fire caused significant damage to my home, leaving it partially burned and heavily affected by smoke and water. The laundry-room frame and door were blown out of the wall, the adjacent wall had a large hole blown through it and some windows were blown out as well.

The fire started when a propane valve was manually opened in my laundry room under suspicious circumstances. My side laundry door was open to charge my electric vehicle using my electric dryer outlet. There is hard evidence revealing intruders on my property at the time of the incident and an investigation is currently under way. It was a miracle that there was a delay between the dryer being turned on and the explosion so that my friend was able to exit the laundry room and close the door a few seconds before the explosion occurred. I'm so thankful for this blessing.

After being startled by a 'boom' much louder than a gunshot, I saw a wall of fire racing directly toward me. I was sitting on a kitchen bar stool facing toward the hallway leading to the laundry room. In that instant, I thought my life's story was coming to an end. At the last moment, the flames veered to my left and ultimately shattered the windows to the left and behind me. I feel like God wrapped me up and deflected the flames to my left.

One of my dogs had his thick fur singed, but otherwise my four dogs and my parrot also survived this terrible event.

The flames quickly spread as the open propane valve spewed propane, causing partial structural damage, smoke damage throughout the house, and water damage from firefighting efforts. First and foremost, I lost my peace of mind knowing that someone would try to harm me, my family, and my friends. I am still accounting for the damage, but the loss is substantial. The experience has been incredibly traumatic, and the road to recovery feels daunting.

The Impact

This propane explosion and fire have left me with an unsecured home due to blown-out windows. My house reeks with a toxic smoke smell and I'm facing a severe disruption to my life and significant financial burdens, including the cost of repairs, replacing damaged belongings, and temporary living expenses. The emotional toll of this event is also immense, as I grapple with the loss of my home and the disruption to my life and my family's life.
