Honoring Joe Whitler
Honoring the Life of Joseph Michael Whitler:
On February 26, 2026, our family and community lost an incredible man. Joseph Michael Whitler passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41 following a sudden medical emergency. His loss has left a hole in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Joe was a proud graduate of Brookside High School, Class of 2003. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Army. He rose to the rank of Sergeant and served with the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment. During his military career, Joe completed two overseas tours- one in Afghanistan and one in Iraq.
While serving in Iraq, Joe was wounded in combat and was awarded the Purple Heart for his bravery and sacrifice. After being medically discharged from the Army, he carried his strength, resilience, and dedication into every aspect of his civilian life.
Joe was married to the love of his life, Michelle, for nearly 20 years. Together they built a beautiful life and family. He was a devoted father to three wonderful children: Isabel (18), currently a nursing student at Austin Peay State University, Ava (13), and Brantley (10). His children were his pride and joy, and he was their biggest supporter in every endeavor.
Following his military service, Joe worked at Fort Campbell Range Control, where he served as a Range Operations Supervisor. He dedicated many years to his work there before retiring in 2025.
Outside of his career, Joe poured his heart into mentoring and coaching young athletes. He coached football at Montgomery Central High School and Clarksville Academy, as well as his son's youth football team. He also coached baseball for his son's 11U travel team, The Black Sox. He believed deeply in teaching discipline, teamwork, and character- both on and off the field. To so many young players, he was more than a coach; he was a role model.
Joe lived a life of service- to his country, his family, and his community. He was strong, loyal, selfless, and deeply committed to those he loved.
This fundraiser has been created to help Michelle and the children with funeral expenses and to provide financial support as they navigate this unimaginable loss. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the burden during this difficult time. If you are unable to give, please consider sharing this page and keeping the Whitler family in your prayers.
Thank you for honoring Joe's life, service, and legacy. He will forever be remembered as a hero, a husband, a father, a son, a coach, and a friend.
