My dad, 83 years old, a retired police officer and Navy veteran who has been independent until June has been diagnosed with MDS, a condition that is caused his bone marrow to fail. It's only a matter of time before it turns to acute leukemia and he is high risk for this.

He has been undergoing chemotherapy for the last 3 months and now the doctors want to take him into Boston for a bone marrow transplant, the only way to cure him.

He will need to go into Boston for this on October 7th where they will give him heavy duty chemotherapy to destroy all of his bone marrow and his immune system and on the 14th of October give him the bone marrow transplant. He will be gone for 4 to 6 weeks and in isolation.

Dad is on a fixed income, I have had to stop working in order to take care of him and of course insurance does not pay everything and the bills are piling up. I have gone through my savings.

I need the funds in order to be by his side during this time...and he needs me, which will be expensive, like the usual bills.. groceries, parking, gas, tolls...etc.
