Thank you for all those that have followed Melissa's cancer story and have been praying-we wanted to provide a medical update and her next steps. Melissa's journey with breast cancer has spanned 8 years. She is a single mother raising her daughter, Maddie, who has Down Syndrome.

First our family wants to say thank you to all who prayed for Melissa and donated in 2021. There are no words for our appreciation in helping her- your prayers and donations helped her defy all odds but now she faces the battle again.

Melissa currently has Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer to the Brain. In 2022, her immunotherapy treatments kept her brain cancer stable and quiet which was a huge win. Recently, in 2023, Melissa's cancer moved into her cerebral fluid…both in her brain and cervical spine. She also has cancer on her optic nerve impairing her vision in her right eye.

While immunotherapy has worked well to quiet her cancer in past years, the repeated treatments have caused her platelets to drop to abnormal levels, which limits the frequency and dose of immunotherapy she can now receive. With less frequent treatment, the doctors feel this has allowed the cancer to progress again.

With traditional treatment options being more limited now, Melissa currently has an opportunity in June to spend 3 weeks at the Hope 4 Cancer clinic. This clinic has a history of getting stage 4 cancers into remission using cutting-edge traditional and alternative medicines and modalities. These treatments are not covered by insurance and your donation would help pay for these treatments.
