Help Our Daughter Secure Housing for Her Freshman Year at NCCU

Our daughter is preparing to begin her freshman year at North Carolina Central University, but just days before classes begin, she is facing something no incoming college student should have to worry about: she currently has nowhere to live.

She has done everything that was asked of her. She was accepted to NCCU, financially cleared, registered for classes, and prepared to move in and begin this exciting new chapter. Unfortunately, the university accepted more students than it currently has housing available for, and despite classes beginning Monday, she has still not received a housing assignment.

Our family does not live in the Durham area, so commuting from home is not an option. We also planned financially based on her living on campus, which means unexpectedly securing off campus housing at the last minute has created a significant expense that we were not prepared for.

We are starting this GoFundMe to help cover at least her first month of off campus housing, move in costs, utilities, transportation, and other immediate housing related expenses while we work to restructure our family budget and wait for her financial aid overage refund to become available.

Our greatest concern right now is making sure she has a safe, stable place to live so she can attend class on Monday and focus on being a college student instead of worrying about where she is going to sleep.

We are incredibly proud of our daughter and everything she has accomplished to get to this moment. We refuse to allow a housing shortage beyond her control to stand in the way of the education she has worked so hard for.
