Housing/Medical billing

Hi everyone,

I am reaching out because my household has been hit by a chain of emergencies that we simply cannot afford to survive on our own.

Back in April, we noticed mold on our kitchen and bathroom ceilings. We did our best to clean and treat it, but we didn’t realize there was deep structural water damage hidden above. This summer, the wood rotted completely. The ceiling is now falling apart in sheets, and the wood is so soft it can easily be punctured with a spoon.

Because of the holes in the roof and ceiling, bats have started getting into the house. A few days ago, my indoor cat caught one in my bedroom. To protect her, she was rushed to the vet for emergency shots within hours. Shortly after, she scratched/poked me. Because the bat couldn't be tested and her vaccines were lapsed, public health protocols required me to start immediate emergency rabies treatments.

I am thankful we acted fast to stay safe, but the financial toll is devastating. I work part-time making $13 an hour (averaging 10 to 20 hours a week), and I do not have health insurance. Neither I nor my family have the credit scores required to get loans or payment plans for a new roof or the incoming medical bills.

We are currently applying for hospital financial aid, but we are completely stuck regarding the ceiling. The house is no longer safe or sealed against wildlife. Every single dollar donated will go directly toward buying materials to repair the structural damage and helping cover these unexpected medical costs.

Even if you cannot donate, sharing this link would mean the world to us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading and supporting us through this crisis.
