I Just Want to Go Home...
In July, 2019, right before the pandemic really took hold, I suddenly found myself homeless, without any backup funds, a job or family members that were willing to help me or friends that were able to. I've always been told and I truly believe that honesty is the best policy and my becoming homeless, was caused by my own selfishness. I didn't put in my share, believing that my own family and blood would always take care of me. Family and blood can only take so much of being taken advantage of which is what I had done.
After I got over my pity party and stopped blaming everyone else I went to the only place that I knew was safe-away from other people in homeless camps, drug addicts and or crime. I live in a city of 5 million or so and outside of it would be safest..out into the mountains of the Southwestern Desert. And I mean literally, no people, homes, stores, or humans within a straight several miles or more.
I have worked off and on throughout the five years of my homelessness. I have not asked my family for much help. Occasionally a family member would let me crash,( I had COVID twice) in bad weather or send me a little money for food. I tried not to bother them. I donate plasma twice a week, earn money with digital creations on social media platforms, promoting two of my self-published books. Books that I published while being homeless.
In the last 5 years, I have come to love how I live, with the exception of summertime. During the month's of May-September, I am allowed to stay with my children's father, my ex and we do not get along very well. I miss the desert then, but..
So many times I catch a voice in my head crying.. I just want to go home, and have to remind myself that I don't have one..My kids do not like the way that I live and rarely speak to me hardly if ever. I miss them so much! I have lived in a tent that is 5 + 6 ft for 5 years and found I don't need much. I'm looking for assistance with buying and building my own custom tiny house, from mostly, if not all recycled materials, and a piece of property that is specifically zoned for a tiny home in Arizona, a place where know my son or daughter could come over have a meal, and I could actually see and watch my new granddaughter play and grow..
I just want to go home..
