In Need of a Hand Up, Not Out

Thank you for taking the time to view my fundraising campaign.

My name is Melissa. I am the proud mom of a five year old, and happy wife of a wonderful man.

I am a type 1 diabetic, and suffer from severe migraines on a regular basis, so I have always had trouble obtaining and keeping employment. Where I live, neither of these conditions qualify me for disability, so I have no income, and no way of receiving assistance (I do receive Medicaid, but that is all).

My husband works ridiculously hard every day to provide for our little family, and is doing all he can. We still can't really make ends meet and often have to sacrifice one necessity in order to cover another.

We are currently living in a travel trailer (AKA camper) in a campground. It works, but is not ideal, especially with a very active and spunky five year old, so I am trying to help gather enough money for a larger camper that we won't have to make payments on (lot rent is all we can really afford, and just barely).

Our current camper has one bed room that we all have to share, was made in 1993, and is falling apart around us. We don't need something fancy, just something that will keep out the elements, and has enough room for three people and all of our belongings (not that we have much, but it is still really cramped).

Also, I am an avid yarn crafter (knitting and crocheting) and would love to turn my hobby into an opportunity to help provide for my family.

In order to make this happen, I need to be able to buy supplies, like decent quality yarn. I also am looking for people who are interested in buying hand knit and crocheted items. I cannot afford to ship anything right now, and I do not have a vehicle in order to deliver anything in person.

I am trying to help my family get on our feet, and make a contribution instead of just having an open hand.

I am looking for a hand up, not a hand out. I hate asking people, especially complete strangers for help, but I am out of other options.

If you cannot donate to my fundraiser, for whatever reason, thank you for taking the time to read my story. Prayers are always welcome too.

If you don't want to donate money, but have extra yarn that you could spare, and are willing to ship to me, or know of someone that is willing to sell us a larger camper for really cheap, I am more than willing to accept it.

Add me on Facebook, and let me know if you can help.

To anyone that does decide to help, I and my family thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
