I've never asked for help before, but this time I don't know where to turn. My son passed away 2/2/22 at the age of 25 from a blood clot to his lung after just being in the hospital until 1/31/22 and diagnosed with Rhabdomyolysis and necrotizing myopathy. He was my baby and my best friend. We grew up together since I was pregnant at 17. No parent should have to see their child lying on the bathroom floor and have to say goodbye as the funeral home took him away. They didn't think he needed an autopsy due to his extensive medical history(he'd only been in the hospital 1/7-1/31, but that's extensive), so I had to pay for an autopsy to find out why my baby was gone. We had him cremated, but just in an amazon urn that was about $100 and ended up paying about $6,000 for the autopsy, and funeral home services. Needless to say, with all that, we don't have any extra money. I feel like I don't have closure because I wasn't able to do a memorial service and he needs a new urn since this one is already chipping. I haven't been able to get together with all his friends like a memorial service would have had us be able to. I just started back to work, but am only able to work a few hours a day for little pay. The money we used to pay for his autopsy/cremation was the money we were saving for taxes, so I still owe money for that too and feel like I'm never going to catch up while also being able to get him the urn he deserves along with a service. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated and know it will be used to say goodbye to one of the best people I've ever known. He was amazing and I was never blessed with another baby, so Ill never hear someone call me “mom” again or get the joy of being a grandparent. He was the kind of person who at one point when I had to call 911, he just sat there and just cried and said he was so sorry to me over and over because he didn't want to have to be taken care of. He couldn't walk when it got really bad. I'm bawling writing this and it probably makes no sense, but I just don't know where else to turn for help. Thanks for reading.
