Inas Family Gaza Survive

My name is Nina Gorman, a psychotherapist and social science teacher in Philadelphia, PA, USA. I am doing this fundraiser to help Inas and Khaled Qaddih, both 28 years old, from Khan Yunis, Al Mawasi, Gaza, Palestine and their five children:  Fouad (8), Yahya (6), Sila (4), Marah (2.5) and little baby Farah (3 months) to help survive the brutal genocidal war in Gaza. I came to know them on Meta Facebook social media earlier in the war along with other friends in their area in Al Mawasi where conditions now are extremely difficult from the blocking of aid at the border and the severe winter rains and winds that have torn their tent near the sea where most endure the harshest winter conditions.  They are struggling to survive to keep from starving and freezing with Marah and Farah most at risk due to their young age like many children in Gaza now and like many who froze and starved to death last year.

All donations will be transferred from my secure USA bank account to the secure PayPal of Khaled.

Here is Inas in her own words:

My name is Inas Qaddih, 28 years old from Khan Yunis, Al Mawasi, Gaza,  writing these words with immense pain and a glimmer of hope. We are living through extremely harsh humanitarian conditions due to the war, with shortages of food, water, and security. We are human beings seeking only to live with dignity. I appeal to every person of conscience in this world: any assistance, however small, can make a huge difference in our lives. Support, participation, or even a prayer.

My husband Khaled and I and our five children have been suffering horribly in this war.I lost my brother and sister in bombing in my camp only two months ago. I will never forget that horrible day and I miss them sorely. My husband and I feel helpless when our children especially Silah and Marah cry for something to eat or a shekel for a sweet. It is hard for me to nurse since I am malnourished and therefore anemic.  I cannot afford diapers for Farah since they are so expensive.

My dear husband Khaled travels kilometers every day to fetch us water hurting his back and we must wait in long lines for just a little rice or bean soup to survive. When we can get a little food we choke on the smoke from the fires we must cook with making  our breathing and that of the children difficult. We can afford no eggs, cheese, milk and rarely any fresh vegetables since they are so expensive and so our children our skinny and malnourished. We sacrifice for them and sometimes go days without eating so they can avoid severe hunger and survive. We all get sick often since we are not eating properly and even the sand is contaminated from the repeated bombings and the destruction of the sewage infrastructure.

The winter rains and winds are here with temperatures dropping rapidly. We have few blankets and no winter clothes to keep from freezing. The tent is damaged from the winter rains and winds with leaks from above and floods below and we have no funds to repair it.   I do not even have diapers or feminine hygiene products. We feel humiliated and are losing hope rapidly since it seems the genocide never ends now mostly by starvation and freezing. We just hold each other at night and hope to survive another day.

Though we love our land, land of our ancestors and fear leaving it, we feel we have no other choice when the crossings open to travel to Egypt and from their to relocate to another country in Europe or elsewhere so we can survive as all of Gaza has been destroyed by the occupation and their supporters and other countries have abandoned us.

So if the opportunity presents we will do what we have to do and return to our land some day. I appeal especially to all mothers, mother to mother. Hear our cries. I am a mother of five children from Gaza, writing with a heavy heart, searching for safety and food for my children amidst these harsh conditions. My children go to bed hungry, and I, a mother, have nothing left but to pray and plead for help. I appeal to everyone who can help: any support, no matter how small, can save a childhood and alleviate immense suffering. Even sharing this post could be a blessing. May God reward you all.
