My name is Taylor Sabado and I am the music teacher at El Dorado High School in Placerville, CA. I am entering my third year of teaching at EDHS, and funding for our music program is a continuous battle. Our school is classified Title I, which means we serve a high population of low-income families. My goal is to get more technology into my classroom in order to give my students experiences and opportunities that will enrich their learning and their lives forever.

My crowdfunding goal is to raise $1,862* to purchase two new iPad Pros (and cases for each) for my classroom. I currently use and lend my personal iPad to students in my classroom on a daily basis for a variety of learning and administrative tasks. Having designated iPads in my classroom just for student use would give my students countless enriching experiences and would help them develop the technology skills they need to be successful in the 21st Century.

iPads are great for the arts: they can be used to take and edit videos with iMovie for self-analysis and developing metacognitive skills; they can be used as an assistive device for students who may struggle with traditional instrument configurations or communication methods; GarageBand can be used to sequence, record, and edit music compositions; they can store and display countless files of electronic sheet music; they can be used as a mixing board for concerts and performances; they can be used as instruments themselves; they can be used with ear-training, sight-reading, and assessment apps to help students learn music theory and perfect their musical performance skills... I believe the possibilities are endless!
