Jaya's Study Abroad
This May–June 2026, I have the incredible opportunity to participate in a study abroad course through Indiana University called Strategic Management of Cities, States & Regions: Public Policy Perspectives. From May 21 to June 11, 2026, I will travel to Augsburg, Germany and Bergamo, Italy to study how cities and regions create policies that support sustainable economic development, strong communities, and responsible growth.
During this program, I’ll work alongside students from universities in Germany and Italy in small international teams to analyze real cities and regions. Together, we will develop strategic policy recommendations that help communities achieve long-term sustainability and economic success. At the end of the course, our teams will present our strategies through both written reports and presentations.
The experience goes far beyond the classroom. We will visit government agencies, local organizations, companies, and historic sites in both cities to better understand how political, social, and economic systems shape communities. Learning directly from these places and the people who live and work there will give me a real-world understanding of public policy and urban development that simply can’t be replicated in a traditional classroom.
This opportunity will help me build global perspectives, develop cross-cultural collaboration skills, and gain practical experience in policy and regional development. It’s an important step toward my academic and career goals, and it will allow me to bring new ideas and perspectives back to my studies.
Unfortunately, study abroad programs come with significant costs, including program fees, travel, housing, and educational expenses. I am working hard to cover as much as I can myself with the help of some scholarships, but I’m asking for help from friends, family, and supporters who believe in the value of global education.
Any contribution, no matter the amount, will help make this life-changing experience possible. Your support will help me participate in this program, learn from international communities, and gain knowledge that I hope to use to help cities and communities thrive in the future.
Thank you so much for supporting my education and this incredible opportunity.
