Jose Aquino is always doing his best to be supportive for his friends, family and co-workers. For those of us who see and talk with him on a regular basis, we know Jose as a dedicated son, brother and friend. He's also a great cook, world traveler, and a good-natured human being. Since he commutes over two hours each day for work, hurrying between buildings and floors, no one expected any serious health issues, not even Jose.

But on Sunday, July 30th, Jose suffered a stroke following a routine procedure due to heart failure. He spent a few days in ICU at Providence Everett under constant supervision until caregivers thought he could be moved into progressive care. During that time, Jose was cheerful with jokes and grateful for what he said was a "wake up call."

Now, Jose is concentrating on recovery through full-time occupational therapy at Providence Everett's inpatient rehab. Until he's able to return to work, Jose's position at Slipstream is on hold for 12 weeks while he's on medical leave. However, it is unpaid and currently, there's at least a four week wait while his WA state paid medical leave is being processed.

It's our turn to reciprocate the support Jose has given, while he's striving to regain full physical independence.
