Our dear friends, Josh and Lysette Butler, are in need of financial support to help them recover from the 6 week early arrival of their daughter, Esperanza, and the flooding of their home...all in the same week.

Lysette and Josh have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of their sweet baby girl, but Lysette was having serious contractions starting at 24 weeks. There were several interventions but on July 7th Lysette was transferred by helicopter from Kerrville to San Antonio, as it was clear that our local hospital wouldn't be able to provide NICU support. Despite best efforts to stop labor, the medical team was forced to perform an urgent c-section and Esperanza was born on July 9th, a full 6 weeks early.

Josh and Lysette had just moved out of a tiny 1 bedroom apartment into a 2 bedroom rental in town 2 days before Lysette went into early labor. They hadn't even had time to unpack any boxes when the contractions started getting scary. On July 16, Kerrville and Ingram suffered from extremely heavy rainfall, and like many other residents, their house flooded. FLOODED. Instead of being in San Antonio with his wife and new baby, Josh had to pivot and start mucking out their new house. Most of their furniture was destroyed, and the house isn't habitable and likely won't be for several months.

Lysette and Esperanza have since been released from the NICU, but as they have no home to move into, they have had to move in with Josh's family.

We haven't even touched on the lost wages due to the unplanned medical emergency and flood response. Both Lysette and Josh really appreciate their employers being flexible about their work, but they have missed significant wages thru all of this.

I'm hoping that as a community we can pull together and find a way to provide a little support to this new family in this really tough time.
