My parents have worked hard for over 47 years, managing several rental properties with the hope of creating a stable retirement. This house—one of their last to sell—was supposed to be part of that plan. It wasn’t just another property, either. It used to be my mom’s parents’ home, which made it feel even more personal and important to our family.

But what they found inside was something no one could have ever prepared for.

They walked into a heartbreaking scene:

• Over 100 cat skeletons—clear signs of long-term suffering and neglect
• Several terrified live cats, some so desperate they jumped from second-story windows
• Ashes and waste piled high, covering floors and seeping into the structure
• Damage beyond words—walls clawed through, floors soaked, and unbearable stench

My sister and brother-in-law tried to help rescue the surviving cats and ended up needing rabies shots after being bitten. The entire experience has been emotionally and physically exhausting for all of us—especially my parents, who now have to deal with the trauma, the cost of hazmat-level cleanup, and the fact that the home is currently unsellable.

This house was supposed to bring them peace. Instead, it’s become a financial and emotional nightmare.

We’re raising funds to:

• Support my parents as they try to recover from all of this and finally move on from the rental world
