Justice for Richard
Help Richard Dor Fight for His Freedom
At 51 years old, Richard Dor is fighting the most important battle of his life—not to survive, but to live. After spending 31 years behind bars for a crime he did not commit, Richard finally has a real chance to overturn a life sentence. But justice is not automatic. Justice requires proper legal representation—and that is where your help is urgently needed.
Richard was only 19 years old when his life was taken from him. Young, underrepresented, underfunded, and unsupported, he was swept into a tragic situation after falling in with the wrong crowd and being falsely perceived as loyal to people who did not have his best interests at heart. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time—and an innocent life was lost. Despite maintaining his complete innocence and despite evidence that was never properly presented, Richard was railroaded by a system that failed him. With no money, no meaningful legal defense, and no support, he was sentenced to life without parole for a crime he did not commit.
This is a story we hear far too often—young men and women falsely accused and buried by a system stacked against them. But Richard’s story is not over.
After 31 years of fighting for justice, Richard’s case is now before the court under California Penal Code 1172.6, which allows individuals sentenced under outdated felony murder laws to seek relief. An evidentiary hearing is forthcoming, where the court will determine whether Richard can legally remain convicted under current law.
This moment is critical.
This is where proper legal representation can mean the difference between freedom and a lifetime behind bars.
Unfortunately, due to a continued lack of resources, Richard is once again facing the possibility of being represented by an overworked, disengaged attorney—someone unable or unwilling to fight for him with the passion, preparation, and dedication that justice demands. We cannot allow history to repeat itself.
Richard needs our help to hire a thorough, experienced, and justice-driven attorney who will fully present the evidence, challenge the narrative that has haunted him for decades, and finally give him the defense he never had.
I have known Richard for over 30 years—we’ve been friends since high school. I know his heart, his character, and his unwavering belief in truth and accountability. Richard has always maintained his innocence and is prepared to present overwhelming evidence and facts to prove it—if only he is given the chance.
There is hope. And you can be part of it.
Your donation—no matter the amount—goes directly toward securing competent legal representation and ensuring that Richard’s voice is finally heard. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to correct a grave injustice and bring a man home after more than three decades of wrongful imprisonment.
Please donate, share, and stand with Richard Dor in his fight for freedom.
Justice delayed does not have to mean justice denied.
