Dear friends and family,

As some of you may have already heard, a little over 3 months ago Kenny started to experience weakness in his legs. He thought this was due to his knee he had all ready planned to have replaced. The weakness got so bad that he was unable to continue to do his job as a roll-off truck driver, a job that he has faithfully done for over 30 years. He decided to take some vacation time before his knee surgery to rest up and get ready for his procedure.

While on leave his weakness got worse and to the point he couldn't walk on his own. Was admitted to hospital to figure out what was wrong with his muscles.

The doctors were puzzled with the worsening weakness and had every specialist run tests to try and figure out what was happening. After weeks of unknowns and test upon tests it was determined that Kenny had an autoimmune disease called Necrotizing Myositis. By this time he had all but lost the ability to use his legs.

After spending a little over a month in the hospital, we now know what's wrong and have a plan of attack. After getting treatment, he was discharged to a rehab facility to start his long journey of building up his strength in his legs to start to walk again. After a few weeks in rehab and starting to gain some strength back, he is now able to walk 50 feet with the assistance of a zero gravity lift. BUT, His health Insurance won't pay for any more time in the rehab facility and is releasing him to continue in home rehab. He was released and sent home 7/26. 

Upon being released, Kenny was sent home with a hospital bed, a motorized wheel chair, a lift to help get him from the bed to the wheelchair, a in home care nurse to check in on him daily, and in home rehab. Kenny's house is not handicap accessible currently and a ramp is needing to be installed to help make it easier to get him in and out of the house. Upon being released they didn't have the correct lift for Kenny and he is now unable to get out of bed without it.

Currently he is home and trying to figure out a routine and get on track again while he waits for the lift. He has run out of vacation days weeks ago and has been on short term disability but this is due to run out in the fall. With the long road ahead and not being able to make his full pay, Kenny and Jane can use all the financial support they can get.
