Kevin's Lung Transplant
This is the story of our dad, Grandfather, and Friend to many, Kevin Collier. He has been diagnosed With Pulmonary Fibrosis, and recently informed that he may need a Lung Transplant. He is 74 years old and has raised his children and as a Foster Parent raised so many more. He and our mom adopted three of those foster Children one of them as an adult. He worked his entire adult life doing different jobs from resealing gas mains, making springs, and running his own business. He built his mother a house. Remodeled his own and had several rental houses that he remodeled himself over the years. He ran a successful full-service vending route employing several people over the years. He recently retired and wants to have more time to spend with his us, his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and his wife of over 50 years.
Growing up he took us on Vacations. When we stopped to camp, he would have to test out all our bicycles from the biggest to the smallest before we could ride them around. Picture a 6ft man riding a bicycle with 12in rims. That is our dad. He always wants his children to feel loved, make us laugh, and enjoy life. He and mom dreamed of traveling after retirement. This diagnoses has put a crimp in those plans. His past times include woodworking, working on his house, tinkering with his recently restored 48 Desoto (His first car) and helping his kids and grand kids with their projects.
With the lung transplant comes many extra expenses. If he is successful in getting one he will have to stay within an hour of the Cleveland Clinic for 6-8 weeks after leaving the hospital. We live a couple hours away so this will be the bulk of the expense. We will have travel expenses and probably some medical expenses along the way. We are asking for help. Dad has asked that any money not used be donated to the Cleveland Clinic and the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation to help in their continued research of this disease.
