K.I.D.S. Robotics
K.I.D.S. Inc is an inner city youth outreach on the near south side of Indianapolis. Three years ago we started a STEM educational program focused on robotics to help the youth develop their interests in science and technology. This outreach has been a huge success but we are in desperate need of funding.
We have been invited to go to Chicago to the Museum of Science and Industry to show our robot for their Robot Block Party. This will be our second year.
We also hope to compete in the Vex World Championships this year with hundreds of teams from all over the world. The biggest obstacle is money and the lack of it. The registration fee is $850 and that is on top of travel, lodging, and food. We also need some additional parts for our robot. Motors are wearing out after three seasons of hard use. Plastic gears are showing wear as well.
Additionally, we are in desperate need for 2 new computers. Our programmer is using a laptop that is about 10 years old and made for Windows Vista.
Any additional money we get will go toward the ongoing costs of parts and supplies.
Thanks in advance for giving these students an opportunity to see possibilities beyond their neighborhood.
