My name is Vince Spencer, and for the last year I have been in communication with Abdullah al-Najjar in Gaza through WhatsApp, both in video calls and text messages. On the 2nd of August, 2025, Abdullah was in a crowd gathering for food when shooting broke out. In the chaos, he was struck by an aid truck and hit by a bullet in his left leg. He was left with a bone fracture and a gunshot wound, and is forced to walk on his injury daily in order to get food and water for himself.
