Having a legal vehicle is our fastest ticket to financial stability. Once our car is road-legal, I can immediately log on and drive for DoorDash to start generating a daily income for our household. Additionally, relying solely on online job boards hasn't worked; filling out applications online simply doesn't have the same impact as dressing up, driving out, and walking into a business to apply for a job in person. A legal vehicle means I can look an employer in the eye, hand them my resume, and secure a traditional job.

To make this happen, we need to clear four specific financial hurdles totaling $585:

* Step 1: DMV Flags Installment ($150) – This has to be done first. We have a payment plan option to clear the immediate flags blocking our vehicle registration, and we need $150 to make the first two installments so the state will allow us to move forward. We only need one installment to start but want to make sure we are good in case it takes a minute to secure jobs.

* Step 2: Driver's License Application ($55) – We need $55 to pay the state DMV fees to reapply for a driver's license and retake the required tests.

* Step 3: First Month of Car Insurance ($350) – Because of the vehicle flags, our initial risk profile is high, making our upfront deposit for a basic insurance policy roughly $350. We must have this active before we can legally register or drive the car.

* Step 4: Vehicle Title & Registration ($30) – Because this car was a blessing and given to us as an act of donation, our registration costs are incredibly low—only $30 to fully get the plates and register it in our name once the flags are cleared.
