Leiana’s battle
Let me start by saying I’m doing this for my best friend Felisha. After suffering eight miscarriages all before six weeks she finally got pregnant with her miracle child.
On April 22, she was hospitalized for observation as the baby was not moving much. She was 35 weeks. On April 25, 2025 she was induced her water broke and at 9 o’clock due to no progression she was given a C-section Leiana was brought to this world at 10:28 PM. We knew three months ago that she had a hole in her heart once she was born and taken to the Nicu, Ascension healthcare and Pensacola Florida did another echo on her post life not only did she have a hole in her heart, but she also had an issue where her pulmonary vein was not attached to the back of her heart the way that it should be. On April 27, which was a Sunday about 9:30 in the morning baby girl was air lifted to shands in Gainesville. Sunday morning Mom had to check herself out of the hospital AMA so that she could be in Gainesville with her daughter for surgery so we drove down. Tuesday, April 29 all of the surgeons were supposed to get together discuss her case and decide if she was a candidate to wait for surgery or if she was critical enough to need surgery as they had more surgeries than they could handle to do critically. Tuesday morning at around midnight Mom got a call that they were doing chest compressions, baby girls’s heart had bottomed out and we needed to get to the hospital. We proceeded to make our way to Shands from the hotel room when we got there about 12:30 doctor come out and spoke with us and went back to work on baby girl at 1:30. He came out. They had tried compressions for 90 minutes. Tried to connect her to an ECMO machine to keep her alive with no success. Her veins were too little to handle the machine so at 1:19 AM on Tuesday, April 29, sweet little Leiana took her last breath. A funeral home down there cremates loss of life for baby’s for free however, now we have to pay to ship her ashes home. Mom has been in the hospital since we’ve got home from Gainesville because she had an infection in her C-section cut so now Mom‘s been in the hospital for two weeks has not been able to work. Can’t pay her rent And she has at least 4 to 6 weeks of healing before she’ll be cleared to full duty so I set up this donation site so that we can try to help get her a little cushion to be able to pay her bills to be able to get her daughter home so that we can do a memorial service and celebrate her short little life. I appreciate everyone who shares this and I double appreciate everyone who donates if you cannot donate we totally understand but if you could, please share this, that would be greatly appreciated.
