Leonidas and Gumiho are two young cat siblings that live on the streets in a neighborhood in LA. We'd like to take them in, get their health needs attended to, & give them a loving home. However, there are a lot of upfront costs from food to litter to healthcare and more that are preventing us from being able to take these poor kiddos in. Your assistance would be the life-changing miracle these cats need & would help battle the rampant issue of the stray population in your community.

Leonidas (Ancient Greek for "Lion-like") is a long-haired brown tabby male who needs to be neutered. He also has fleas, is under-weight, and often de-hydrated. He has rashes (most likely due to the fleas) that scab over until he licks them - at which point they become fresh cuts again & start bleeding. The black strips of his fur are red due to sun exposure & protein/nutritional deficiencies. He is incredibly friendly & affectionate & has even crawled in my (Hannah's) lap to snuggle.

Gumiho (A Korean mythical nine-tailed fox) is a long-haired light-colored torbie (tortoiseshell & tabby mix) female who needs to be spayed. She also has fleas, is under-weight, & often de-hydrated. She is shy & fearful, but you can tell she desperately wants to be a part of the attention. She follows the lead of Leonidas, becoming closer & closer to us as he grows more familiar with us, too.

We are trying (without luck so far) to get a hold of Spay4LA, an organization that does discount spay/neuter & vaccine services. Their pricing for the services we need are as follows:

Spay & neuter - $5 per cat

FVRCP vaccine (3 rounds per cat) - $60 per cat

Rabies vaccine - $15 per cat

Microchips - $50? per cat (Spay4La doesn't have the price on their website, but $50 is generally how much a microchip is - microchips help you find your cat again if it is lost & its collar removed)

Flea treatment - $35 total

Possible additional medical treatment such as something for the scabs & raw/bleeding flea bites.

Additionally, we'd need high-quality foods to help restore nutrition to the cats' bodies such as greenies (for their dental health), nutrient-rich dry food, & wet food (promotes hydration). We'd also need litter, a litter box, & litter liners (to make the cleanup more efficient). Cat carriers for each of the cats is also important (two cats in one carrier, even for siblings of the same family, can cause dangerous & high-stress situations). We'd also like to get a calming pheromone diffuser, as this will hopefully create a smoother transition into a new home.

We have used coupons & gift cards to get water & food bowls, toys, collars, & a cat bed already. We'd also like to get a second cat bed, a scratch mat (to save our furniture), stain & oder remover, a brush for their fur, a food mat to catch spills, claw trimmers, cat shampoo (they'll need some baths before they can enter our home), & cat harnesses & leashes (we'd like them to be able to go outdoors, but don't feel comfortable having them roam freely).

In total, the upfront costs come to at least $600. We're happy to take the kitties in, but want to do so in a way that is responsible & can truly give them the care that they need.
