Let's help David & Family
To our amazing friends, network.
We’re asking all of you to help us support a good friend and his family in Peru during a very difficult time, by helping us raise and send a small but meaningful donation to him of $3,000 by April 24th, 2026.
As many of you know, this year we spent traveling South America and have met some great people along the way.
One of those amazing people is David.
We met David at the lodge we were staying in Huaraz, Peru, where he was working as a grounds keeper. This lodge is 30 min away from town and the workers have shifts requiring them to sleep at the lodge.
We became friends, bonding over the dog that he was caring for, and he shared with us his story. He’s an immensely hard worker.
About two years prior, he came across a litter of puppies and their mother, who someone had poisoned, and he was fortunately able to save one dog, Zeus, that we later adopted from David, as he was unable to further care for the dog.
David’s wife was currently in the hospital in Huaraz, due to issues with her pregnancy and was at risk of losing her baby. Ultimately, his wife had to be flown to Lima, Peru, for the last few months of her pregnancy because the Hospital in Huaraz didn't have enough resources.Post-pregnancy their newborn was in the NICU for some time.
As a result of her mothers absence, David’s 2 year old daughter developed severe anxiety with physical symptoms, and David had to quit his job to be with her 24/7, and now the family is left without an income.
The intention of this money is to help David pay any remaining health care costs related to his wife and newborn's hospitalization, food, and any other costs to help make life easier while David works on finding a new job.
While the amount raised might seem small to people in the U.S., this amount of money is very meaningful as the average monthly income in Peru is roughly $500 USD.
Thank you all!
