Life After Loss
My name is Julie Sommer and life took an unexpected and devastating turn for me this past year. The love of my life, Bob, went into the hospital on December 22nd, 2024, and he passed away on May 12th, 2025. In the midst of that profound grief, over seven difficult months, I also lost my home and my car, finding myself needing to rebuild my entire life at 54. My beloved dog, Teddy, is with me, and together we are facing the daunting task of completely starting over.
While grief is incredibly tough, I'm proud to say I've maintained my sobriety, celebrating my 5-year sober date on July 17th, 2025. My faith is a powerful anchor that's guiding me forward.
I am humbly asking for your support through this fundraiser to help me secure essential housing and transportation, and to lay the groundwork for a new, positive future for both me and Teddy. Your kindness will make a tangible difference in my journey to rebuild.
Your generous contributions will directly support my journey to rebuild my life from the ground up. Specifically, the funds will be used to:
* Secure a Permanent Home: This includes covering essential costs like a security deposit, first and last month's rent, and setting up basic utilities to provide a stable and safe foundation for my new beginning for both me and Teddy.
* Obtain a Reliable Vehicle: A dependable car is crucial for my independence and for generating income. Funds will go towards purchasing a vehicle that will allow me to work and earn a living through DoorDash, ensuring I can sustain myself and care for Teddy long-term.
* Rebuild Essential Needs: Beyond housing and transport, starting over means replacing many everyday necessities. These funds will also help with essential living expenses as I navigate this new chapter.
