Help Ger Yang Out of the Dark, Stay Housed, and Get Back on His Feet

Hello, my name is Toom Chanda, and I’m organizing this fundraiser for my dear friend Ger Yang. Ger is kind, generous, and quietly carrying a heavy burden. He’s never asked for a handout, only a chance to get back on his feet and to keep moving forward with dignity.

Ger has faced more than his share of hardship. He’s someone who has always given his time and energy to others, volunteering on projects and helping people in need, often without pay. He has a dream of pursuing acting and a goal to lift up those who are most underprivileged. But life hasn’t given him an easy path. Ger faces challenges related to Special Education and learning differences, which can make navigating systems and accessing support more difficult. He isn’t lazy or unresponsive, just trying every day to learn, adapt, and survive.

A few days ago, Ger was in a crisis moment and was considering harming himself. We acted quickly to get him the treatment and support he needed, and he is safe now. He’s not asking for a handout, he’s asking for a rescue from debt and darkness so he can restart with hope.

Rent: $750 (monthly) — to keep a safe, stable place to live and work from

License revocation: $500 — to restore his ability to legally drive for work and access opportunities

Phone bill: $167 — so he can stay connected with potential employers, family, and essential services

Food/groceries: $300 — to ensure he and basic daily needs are met while he works to get back on his feet
