Lily's 2nd TPLO Surgery

TLDR: My 7-year-old whippet/shepherd mix, Lily, needs TPLO surgery to fix a torn CCL and meniscus. The surgery will cost between $5,500 to $6,700 and is scheduled for September 1st. This is her second surgery in two years, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

About a year and a half ago, my sweet dog Lily tore the CCL (canine equivalent of an ACL) in her left hind leg. She had to have TPLO surgery to reconstruct her knee so she could walk and run normally again. The surgery was expensive and the recovery was grueling, but it worked beautifully. We knew there was a 60% chance that she would tear her other ACL at some point, but we hoped her healthy lifestyle would help avoid that.

Alas, in March 2023, one year after her surgery, she started limping. We kept an eye on it and tried to reduce her activity level, and she was fine for most of the year. But a few weeks ago she sprinted out into the backyard to chase a squirrel and fully tore her right CCL. Now she's hopping around on three legs again and the only solution is another TPLO surgery.

She's scheduled for surgery on September 1 with the same surgeon who took such amazing care of her the first time. We're not looking forward to 8 weeks with the cone, and I'm really not looking forward to the hit to my bank account. But she's part of the family, so I'll do whatever it takes to keep her happy and healthy.
