Lindsey's Thailand Mission
I've always felt a longing for something more. I went into modeling with fame and fortune on my mind and left with a changed heart. I was exposed to hundreds of homeless people lining the streets in Los Angeles and Miami Beach. As I rode the subway from Brooklyn to Manhattan every day, I noticed that people would ride the train just for an air conditioned place to exist. There were people in Mexico City sleeping on sidewalks, families living in makeshift homes high up in the mountains and children no older than 5 selling items on the street to make money for their family. Seeing that does something to you.
I'm highly affected by other people's emotions and situations. It hurt me to see them so broken down by life. Jesus really opened my eyes to how unfortunate much of the world has it. He allowed me to see them through his eyes, and I can't help but to feel deeply for other people because of it. My heart is being called overseas to Thailand, and I must go.
On May 1 I will depart on my first international mission trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand through Christian Campus House, an on campus ministry at the University of Florida. Here we will be hosting programs for several youth hostels and a Lisu village. We will be teaching, witnessing, showing love and connecting with God's children for two weeks until my return on May 16th.
The total expenses for the trip add up to be $1300. This includes airfare, hotel, food, transportation, gas, translator, training supplies and excursion. As you can imagine, this is no small feat for a financially independent college student. If you are feeling compelled or financially able to help make this trip a reality for me, I ask that you please give what you are able to.
