Little Heart, A Big Fight
Sometimes life brings challenges that no family is ever fully prepared for. As Payton and Jack prepare to welcome their sweet baby girl, Raylee Jean Brigance, they are also preparing for a medical journey that will require incredible strength, faith, and the support of their community.
During pregnancy, Payton and Jack learned that Raylee has been diagnosed with several complex congenital heart defects, including:
- Heterotaxy Syndrome
- Complete Atrioventricular Septal Defect (AVSD)
- Double Outlet Right Ventricle (DORV)
- Obstructed Infradiaphragmatic Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR)
- Pulmonary Stenosis (PS)
Because of the complexity of Raylee's heart conditions, she will need to be delivered at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, where she can receive the specialized care and surgery she needs.
Doctors anticipate that Raylee will need to remain hospitalized for a minimum of 2–3 months, and possibly longer, as she receives the care necessary to give her the best possible start at life.
While most parents spend the final weeks of pregnancy preparing for the excitement of bringing their baby home, Payton and Jack are preparing for an extended hospital stay away from home.
Jack wants to be by Payton and Raylee's side as much as possible during this critical time. Unfortunately, although he qualifies for FMLA, his leave is unpaid. This creates an incredibly difficult financial situation as the family faces lost income, travel expenses, meals, lodging, and everyday household bills.
That's where we are asking our community to step in.
We want to help ease the financial burden on Payton and Jack so they can focus on what matters most: being together and supporting their sweet girl through her fight.
Donations will help cover travel to and from Kansas City, meals, lodging, household expenses, and lost income during Raylee's hospitalization. Our hope is to make it possible for Jack to spend as much time as he can with his wife and daughter without the added worry of how they will manage financially.
No donation is too small. Every dollar, every share, every prayer, and every kind word means more than you know.
Let's surround Payton, Jack, and baby Raylee with love and support. They have a long road ahead, but they don't have to walk it alone.
Let's help Raylee fight, help her parents stay by her side, and remind this family just how loved they are. ❤️
Thank you for being part of their village!
