Little Lola's Legs
Hi there,
My name is Brenna and I just rescued a 3 year old chihuahua mix dog from our humane society at the end of January. I was told she has been waiting for her fur-ever home for over a year. Well, after meeting her, I immediately fell in love and she did too. Lola is extremely fearful of ALL humans so it took some warming up, but we connected. It is rumored that she was severely abused in her previous home.
At any rate, Lola was sent home with me with her left leg held high. She has not been able to put any weight on it and according to the shelter "she is just doing it out of habit". But, I didn't agree with this and took her to my vet this past Saturday. My vet informed me that she couldn't finish the exam or clip her nails because she has one of the most fearful temperaments she has ever seen in an animal. She said her left leg has serious patella issues (4out 4) and the right one is a 3 out of 4. She informed me she will need a TTT surgery with possible ligament correction but will not know until she gets in there. She has informed me that the cost of the surgery ranges from $1800-$2000 per leg but includes everything from the anesthesia, to the meds, to the x-rays of both pre-op and post-op, bloodwork and aftercare. I live on a very low income making $12.50 per hour. I can barely afford my rent at this point. My hope was to get as much help as I can to help my little Lola. She is still very young and I want to give her the life she deserves. I am going to try to pull from my savings to add towards it. But, I honestly do not have much at all. Any help would be so greatly appreciated!
Thanks so much for your time,
Brenna and Lola
