love is respect 🧡
As members of the National Junior Honor Society chapter at Benjamin Tasker Middle School, we (Devin, Layla, Isabel, Izora, Jonah, and Luca) are committed to serving our community in a meaningful way.
This February, in recognition of Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM) we are completing our yearly service learning project by raising funds for “love is respect, a project of the National Domestic Violence Hotline.”
love is respect is an organization dedicated to addressing and preventing teen dating violence by providing 24/7 confidential support, resources, and education to help young people build healthy relationships and escape unsafe situations. They offer text, chat, and phone support, which empowers teens with knowledge and options. As teens, this is a cause that is deeply personal to us and we are proud to be a part of their mission.
WHY THIS CAUSE MATTERS
Teen dating violence is a serious issue affecting young people in our community:
- 1 in 3 U.S. teens experience physical, emotional, or verbal abuse from a dating partner.
- 1 in 10 high school students has been purposely hit, slapped, or physically hurt by a boyfriend or girlfriend.
- Only 33% of teens in abusive relationships ever tell someone or seek help.
Many young people do not recognize warning signs of unhealthy relationships, and a lot of times they suffer in silence. We want to do our part to make sure no young person has to face dating violence alone.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
DONATE: 100% of the funds we raise will go to love is respect, a project of the National Domestic Violence Hotline. Your donation will help fund support for teens in abusive relationships, provide education and outreach to prevent dating violence, and ensure 24/7 access to trained advocates through text, chat, and phone calls.
SHARE: We understand that not everyone may be able to donate at this time. You can also help by sharing our fundraiser with your family, friends, and on social media using the hashtags #loveisrespect, #TDVAM25, #TDVAM2025, and #RespectThat
We believe that together with your support we can help to create a future where all young people can experience safe, healthy relationships that are built on respect.
Thank you for your generosity and support!
