I need y'all to show some financial support for my dear friend and colleague, Laurie, so that she and her baby can recover after a medically complicated and life-threatening birth. Laurie is a skilled, fierce and compassionate youth worker, working with young adults exiting homelessness. She is a loving, single mother of two! Her oldest son, Mason, is preschool age and her baby Cayden was born a month and a half early and will be spending the first few weeks of his life in the Special Care Nursery.

Thankfully, both Laure and Cayden are safe and stable, but their birth process was lengthy and trying. After 40 hours of laboring, Laurie had an emergency C-section. Shortly after that, they put her on oxygen as she was unable to breathe on her own. The doctors ended up needing to do an emergency hysterectomy to save her life.

Your financial contributions will help Laurie and the kids stay fed and rested and will allow her to take a full 12 weeks off of work to recover and care for her new baby.
