Loving Dodge through this
July 6, 2024 was a day we were scared , emotionally depleted and numb.
Everyone who knows me knows how much I love my daughters and will do anything I can to see them smiling.
On July 6th I couldn't do that . Rylee and Jessy had their Baby Boy 101 days early. They named him Dodge Perry Ward. Dodge looked perfect. However in his 3 months of life, he has had an abdominal surgery at 3 days old for a perforated intestine and heart surgery at 8 weeks old, both sucessful. While having difficulty absorbing sodium and potassium through genetic testing found he has 2 mutated genes one from each parent resulting in Bartter Syndrome Type 4 , it is the least common. This is so very rare to receive from one but both parents has a 1: 1,000000.00 chance of happening. He is one in a million.
He will need supplements everyday for the rest of his life and close monitoring for dehydration for a very long time. He will see a Nephrologist and Doctor with specialists . We are all learning as we go.
Jessy is working full time keeping up with bills and Rylee has lost her job, because she will not come home without her baby. Driving to peoria everyday is still happening and will continue as Baby Dodge will remain in the NICU until he is fully ready to go home. Every few days he will travel back to Peoria, as he grows his supplements have to be adjusted.
For all of you asking me and wondering how you can help all I can say is, any help is appreciated and does not go un-noticed. Weather it's gas money, food cards, frozen meals, diapers all of your gifts are just that, gifts and they are all welcomed and loved. We really dont know what will be needed until he comes home. You can private message me if you'd like for any other questions about Baby , Mom and Dad.
I have contemplated for many weeks and watched these two trying to keep ends met. I didn't want to do any type of fundraising where your gift was taxed or a % was withheld so I'm trying this. I have gave many times before but have been fortunate enough to never had to ask, but these kids are my world so I am sharing with you their story and bumpy journey they have ahead of them.
