Lucys Heartworm Treatment

This is Lucy, our 1+ year-old rescue fur baby that joined our family on June 24th, 2023. She is a highly energetic, playful, and goofy Bloodhound that we have fallen in love with. She unfortunately has a health issue, which thankfully is curable, but is expensive. She has early stage heartworms that have not at this point slowed her down, but will if we are not able to complete the full course of treatment. When we first brought her home our plan was to finish the treatment that the foster family had begun and had a vet consult visit set to begin the treatment, but the funds set aside had to be unexpectedly used to replace tires on one of our cars and car repairs on the other.

So we are reaching out to our family and friends to help get our new fur baby healthy and so that she can actually start being a normal dog. Right now we are trying to keep her from being too active and are not able to take her for walks and play fetch (her favorite game) as excessive activity can cause the heartworms to spread and increase long term damage to her heart, lungs and arteries. We have been managing the heartworms to stabilize them and decrease their reproduction. This however is not a permanent fix and she will need to see her vet to complete the final treatments.

To complete her full treatment it will cost about $1,200. It would be great if we could reach the full amount, so we are asking our village of friends and family for help to alleviate the cost. Anything would help and is much appreciated. We thank you in advance for your help.
