Maame & Nolan
Many of you know the young woman Maame and her baby Nolan who I have been helping since last January. Maame came to the US in 2022 from Ghana not knowing she was pregnant, to study nursing. I learned about her from a friend at church who was her advisor and knew my OB background. Maame is now at Black Hawk College, little Nolan is one year old and Richard, father of the baby, is here as a student too. Their apartment was flooded during our deep freeze a week ago and many of their household goods were damaged: Nolan's clothes, his books, bedroom furniture most beyond repair. They are staying with another student waiting to get back into their apartment. Maame's father died in December and she is not able to go for the funeral but sent money in December to help her mother pay for burial expenses—depleting their savings. Could you spare 10 or 20 dollars to help them cover expenses which are many right now. I have come to know and love this little family and I want to help relieve their stresses right now.
