Maddog Reunion Group
This fundraiser is to bring together the soldiers of 2/12 Cavalry, 1st Cavalry, Fort Hood, Texas, to give the soldiers a chance to visit the grave of our brother, non-commissioned officer, and fellow soldier Staff Sergeant Chris Kiernan which many of us affectionately referred to as “Fathead.” The fundraiser helps pay for the rental house used during our yearly reunion, and 100% of the rest is donated to Chris Krossing Foundation. This past year we were able to donate $2,500.00 in his honor and every year we strive to give more. Chris Krossing Foundation (https://chriskrossing.com) was started by Chris's wife, Donna Kiernan Carter who named the nonprofit 501c(3) in loving memory of United States Army Staff Sergeant Chris Kiernan, who lost his life May 6, 2007 while serving his country in Baghdad, Iraq. The Chris Krossing Foundation's mission is to serve those left behind through the power of equine, they focus on helping wounded warriors and those who have lost a loved one in the line of duty, whether military and first responder, recover through equine activities. This reunion gives veterans a place to tell stories, laugh, cry, remember those we've lost and connect with comrades in a judgment free place as many still struggle. One veteran remarked that this is what he looks forward to every year as it helps him remember the brotherhood and camaraderie that he misses in his everyday life. This event has grown every year and is now coming up to its fifth year, we aim to make it better each time. We now center this reunion around Survivor Kid's Day at Chris Krossing Ranch. We will always remember all of our fallen brothers as we come together to remember SSG Chris Keirnan who continues to bring us together after his passing. “Carry On”
