Maria Gastelum Memorial

Dear family and friends,

It is with much grief and sadness to share the passing of Maria Gastelum.

Maria was unaware that she was ill and lost her life to cardiovascular disease. She unknowingly had a diabetes and a heart attack, which very rapidly lead to a cascade of heart problems. She underwent open heart surgery, which was successful, but shortly after she endured a stroke which ultimately took her life.

We ask that you remember her not for the way her life ended, but for the way it was lived. Maria was a shining light in all the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family and friends and many more whose lives were touched by her love and generosity. Maria was the glue to our family and the gear that kept things moving. It has been a difficult transition for our family without her. It took a while for us to grieve and figure out the next steps on her behalf.

We are asking for your support through this unforeseen misfortune. We are hoping to raise enough money to ease the burden on the abrupt financial strain it has caused our family. The fundraiser will cover costs of her living expenses, medical bills, funeral expenditures, and attorney fees. If you are able to give any amount, it would mean the world. If you are unable, we just ask for you to share this fundraiser with others. All donations, shares, and kind words for my mother are profoundly appreciated.

Thank you for all the condolences and the love and support you have given to us as a community as we navigate this difficult time.

She is survived and deeply missed by her husband, Francisco Gastelum, and their four children, Maria Reh, Jonathan Gastelum, Jessica Gastelum, and Rosa Gastelum, and her four grandchildren, Aries Reh, Michael Gerleman, Orion Reh, and Jazmyne Reh.

Querida familia y amigos:
