FND treatment and expense
My niece Leena has recently been diagnosed with Functional Nurological Disorder.
Leena is 10yrs old.
On July 4th 2025, Leena began fainting. Over the course of the next 48hrs and 3 hospitals Leena began having several dozen seizures. On July 6th Leena was diagnosed with FND.
Functional neurological disorder (FND) refers to a neurological condition caused by changes in how brain networks work, rather than changes in the structure of the brain itself, as seen in many other neurological disorders. Physical symptoms of FND are genuine but cannot be explained by changes in the brain structure. The exact cause of FND is unknown.
FND symptoms may include:
Seizure-like episodes
Movement problems
Problems with cognitive function
Dizziness
Speech difficulties, such as sudden onset of stuttering or trouble speaking
Problems with vision or hearing
Pain (including chronic migraine)
Extreme slowness and fatigue
Numbness or inability to sense touch
FND has left them with little to no help due to lack of research and awareness of the condition in the medical field.
Her mom is unable to work in order to provide Leena with the constant care she now needs. Leena has on avg 20-50 seizures a day and frequently requires a wheelchair. She is also unable to attend school regularly.
Leena will be traveling back and forth to KC for appointments, with more long distance travels and possible inpatient stays to come. Donations will be used towards fuel, food, medical supplies, hotels or any other needs related to appointments and inpatient stays.
Please consider donating to help with medical expenses as our family searches for answers. Every penny counts! You may also send donations to her mom via
Cashapp at $Mina6124
Venmo @AlexisWise-Lewis
You can also follow her on her journey by following their page Making Leaps With Leena on Facebook.
If you can not donate we completely understand. Please share and help spread FND awareness.
