We know Melissa as a caring and giving person. She touches our hearts as family, friends, students, and as a coach!  Her positive, bright, and courageous nature has impacted many of us! She is now in need of help from those of us who care about her and her family!

Cancer Story:

Melissa was recently diagnosed with colon cancer on January 20th, 2024. The doctors worked quickly to get the tennis ball-sized tumor removed from her body the same day. After an extended, 12 day, stay in the hospital, Melissa is now back home with her family and ready to start the chemo treatments which will last six months.

This ordeal Melissa and her family are undergoing will be a marathon, not a sprint!  

Melissa expects to be able to teach for a time but the chemo treatments will take a toll and she will need to take a period of leave from work so that she can devote all of her energy to deal with the effects of the chemo. 

Doctor bills are not the only thing that they have to worry about. There are many expenses that insurance can't or won't cover like: 

• Lost wages
• Child care
• Massage therapy
• High-quality food
• Acupuncture

How to give:

If you, like me, want to help our darling Melissa we can donate to a fund to be used at her discretion. I would like to get enough money so that she will not have to worry about a mortgage, utilities, or food for her family for at least a few months.

There is no donation too big or too small.
