SANG SO HUYNH

April 12, 1964 – January 12, 2025

Sang So Huynh was born on April 12, 1964, the youngest of 11 children. He came to the United States when he was 21 as a refugee from Vietnam with two of his older siblings, in the hopes of building a better life.  He started working with landscape irrigation very soon after arrival, being hired through the Conservation Corps in 1985, and learning his trade from his mentors, Tom Bressan and John Stokes, founders and co-owners of the legendary The Urban Farmer Store in San Francisco, as well as Bill Hollborn, founder and owner of Urban Irrigation & Landscape Lighting. Sang was very talented in his field, quickly becoming something of a minor celebrity among San Francisco homeowners, and brought that talent to San Francisco Landscapes in 2023. Sang was a single father to his beloved son and only child, Steven, who was born in 2003. They lived a quiet life in San Lorenzo, CA, with much of his large family nearby.

On Saturday, December 28, 2024, Sang’s son, Steven, found Sang unconscious and bleeding profusely internally. Sang was rushed to the hospital where, despite surgical attempts to stop the bleeding, he died two weeks later on Sunday, January 12, 2025.This illness was completely unexpected by Steven and his extended family.  Steven, at age 21, now has large medical bills to face and a monthly mortgage to pay to keep his family home. Any donations that are given here will go to help pay for these expenses in this difficult time.

Sang was a quiet man, but loved to joke with those he knew. He will be greatly missed by his family, colleagues, clients and friends.
