Steven leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand and great-grand nieces and nephews and life-long friends all across the world as well as his church body at New Hope Kauai where he sang and played drums professionally.

Steven Saflor graduated high school at Kapaa High School where his eldest child attended and his others attended other schools from the west. He started adulthood off by attending college at Kauai Community College in Lihue, Kauai as well as Leeward Community College, in Pearl City, Oahu, Hawaii. He also attended the airforce, during this time, where he served the country between April 1970 - July 1972 and played music internationally while inlisted in the Air Force. His musicianship landed him as the drummer for the group, "The Maganda Brown" where he would play at the now-defunct Club Jetty's in Nawiliwili and was how he made his money. He also sang and played drums in a local Kauai cover band, "Fantasy" where he had a chance to perform and tour the Hawaiian Island Chains at various venues like The Walhi, The Beach Boy, The Golden Cape and other various performance spots. Steven even included extended family during these times such as the Largusa and Espina family to perform and play along with him.

It wasn't until 1980 that his first child, Zachory Kaleo Saflor was born and who eventually followed his father's passions by getting involved in the music industry as a young adult. At the time, Steven decided to work as a truck driver for Budweiser in the mainland where he also was a part of the Warren Noon Sweatshop (a Jazz-Ensemble). Later on, in 1999, he had his Shiloh Simbre Medeiros (RIP, March 11, 2017) and a beautiful daughter Shelsy Lei Simbre Medeiros in 2001. Later on, he worked as a server at the local Kapaa Restaurant Shivalik (Indian Cuisine) for his friend and restaurant owner Bob Thakur, until he retired. His later years were spent living on the land in Wainiha on the island of Kauai where he eventually passed on.

The family of Steven Maurice Saflor are currently seeking financial assistance and donations from family, friends, acquaintances, etcetera to help take care of his funeral expenses, his cremation, dignified military service to send him off. We are looking for your support as family and as friends to help us to raise funds in these efforts to take care of end-of-life costs. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the services will remain private for family and close friends.
